About Me:
Hi, I’m Kelsey (she/her) – a proud mum of three spirited little humans! You’ll usually find me knee deep in craft and sensory play with the kids, dancing my way to fitness, or cheering on the sidelines at weekend sports.

Professionally, I have a degree in Psychology (BSc (Psych) (Hons I)) and postgraduate training in Clinical Child-Centred Play Therapy. Over the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children and families across a range of therapeutic settings. The majority of my career has focused on child abuse prevention, education, and assessment – including many years as a Specialist Child Interviewer with the WA Police Child Abuse Squad. I’m also a trained Protective Behaviours Practitioner – driven by a deep passion for keeping kids safe and helping them feel confident, connected, and heard.

After becoming a parent myself, I found a renewed appreciation for the power of play in children’s emotional development. Watching my own kids grow, struggle, imagine, and process life through play inspired me to shift my focus from crisis work to a more nurturing, healing way of working with children. That’s when Play Out Loud was born – a child-centred play therapy practice grounded in the belief that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and supported just as they are. I continue to specialise in working with children who have experienced trauma and abuse, however my play room is a welcoming space for all children who are experiencing tricky situations or challenging experiences in their lives.

At Play Out Loud, I offer a warm, respectful, and relationship-based approach to play therapy, creating safe spaces where children can explore, express, and build the inner resources they need to grow with confidence.

Play Out Loud is based in Joondalup, WA within Connect Create Psychology.
